A gate anyone can walk through
The site opens with a black box: “For professional investors — I am a professional investor”. One click and you are in. Real private-market platforms check your status with documents before showing any offer.

Affiliates with no names
The small print says the securities are “issued by Better Markets affiliates that hold private company securities”. The affiliates are never named, and neither is the company behind the site, its address or its licence.
Why BaFin acted
Offering investments to German residents needs authorisation. BaFin has warned that Better Markets is not supervised and may be operating without a licence.
How to check
Search BaFin’s company database for any firm offering investments in Germany, and ask who legally holds the shares you would buy. If no company name comes back, walk away.
What to do if you paid Better Markets
- Stop sending money — no “tax”, “release fee” or “upgrade” will unlock a withdrawal.
- Keep every record: receipts, wallet addresses, emails and chat screenshots.
- Call your bank or card issuer today and ask about a chargeback or recall.
- Report it to the regulator that issued the warning and to your local police.
- Ignore anyone who offers to recover the money for an upfront fee.
The verdict: Better Markets sells shares in famous private companies without naming who holds them, and BaFin has warned about it. Do not invest.
